For those banned from WUS-
Honestly, if you want to create your own story, buy a new fucking watchI wanted to restore it, so I could make my own scratches and create my own "story," so to speak.
Here's his story:
Fast, high quality, or cheap - pick two. It's fast and cheap. An RSC is essentially the McDonald's of watch servicing.Seppia wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 12:15 pmI would also mention that the really unacceptable thing (assuming the story is true) is Rolex using cheap labor to service their multi thousand dollar watch.
We love this hobby so “we know”, but this is like a guy who purchased a second hand Maserati, sent it in for a re paint, and gets delivered back a turd.
You sell overpriced jewelry, you are a luxury brand, your employees should know how not to ruin said jewelry
Yes, this is the silly part of the story. BB58's are still a little hard to get, but attainable if you look hard. May need to wait a few months or pay a few hundred $$ premium. Instead he maybe saved $200 off MSRP, but payed RSC to ruin it a had to wait multiple months for RSC to work on it multiple times. How is this better than just buying new?

He told me that a watch service begins with a minimally trained person (basically a secretary with an afternoon of training) removing the bracelet from the case and that most of the polishers were former hotel cleaning women who he trained to polish.
I would never send my watch into that black box in hopes that it comes out without getting fucked up.
Yup, I’m 2 for 2 looking brand new from Dallas RSC. I think 99+% are done well and it’s the vocal minority who get the attention.jimyritz wrote:----------------------------------JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:07 amI don't understand why people send shit to an RSC. Really Jacob? I never would have thought... I have sent 3 watches to RSC ---in all 3 cases through an AD...Never had an issue.. Charges were reasonable for a full service...I'll have to remember this..
I don't think the story is true---the watch was screwed up by someone and now the OP wants to know how to fix it..Just my .02...

I agree that this story is probably BS. RSC errors aren't so egregious.jimyritz wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 5:45 pm----------------------------------JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:07 amI don't understand why people send shit to an RSC. Patek service is slow, expensive, and not great so it's not like Rolex is alone. With the exception of AP (in the USA at least) most of the luxury brands have unacceptable service.
I’ve mentioned this in the past, but I could pretty easily afford a patek AC or chronograph. However fairly common THREE YEAR service intervals with service cost in excess of $1000 and a six month turn around time... I’d need to be a billionaire to put up with that shit.Danny_T wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 7:15 pmJP Chestnut wrote:Fast, high quality, or cheap - pick two. It's fast and cheap. You nailed it. You won’t see your watch for 6-12 months when sending for service with a high end luxury brand. I’d go apeshit if my $100k watch was gone that long lol.

Ask Zack about his ongoing RM11 service. I think he mentioned it's been 16 months and still counting...Danny_T wrote:JP Chestnut wrote:Fast, high quality, or cheap - pick two. It's fast and cheap.
