I mean.... it looks like every other Rolex release - predictable.

(the one recent exception being the skydweller)
Exactly. Nothing "out of the blue" here.
Updated movement with 70HR PR and better proportions with slimmer lugs and 41mm. I couldn’t ask for more and what I’ve been basically hoping for. In for No Date version
Well, yes, aside from all that.
An update to the 3235 was kinda due, and the slimmed lugs treatment like the GMT makes sense. Hopefully they've worked the bugs out of that movement by now. There've been a lot of balance wheel issues with Sky Ds and SD43s, mine included.

How do those lugs look. Are they slimmed down?
Appear to be slimmed down like the GMT, especially compared to a maxi case.
Interesting on the movement bugs, I wasn’t aware. With the Tudor movement bugs it does make one wonder what’s going on. I don’t recall issues with prior Rolex & Tudor motors.
Yup, that's the word from my watchmaker and his AD connection. Usually a timing issue all of a sudden. Not sure if RSC always takes that route, but he swapped out my balance wheel and all was well.

Another change the leaked catalog image shows is a new Oyster bracelet reference 97JB00, which would majorly suck if 21mm... :snooty:

And don’t get me wrong. I may own one eventually, but it’s really nothing to get excited about.
I’m excited. I’ve been wanting a larger case with better lugs since 2010 when they introduced the current sub.

Yes, that would suck. While mine wouldn’t likely leave the bracelet, I don’t like 21mm lugs.

Sure predictable, but hardly surprising as people have said. Rolex has always done predictable. At least it isn’t (yet another) Speedmaster or Seamaster LE.

I find the reported movement issues more concerning. The one thing Rolex has generally offered is staid designs but great reliability under the hood, even if their movements aren’t as nicely finished as some others. There were reported early problems with the 3186 and 3187, and now the 3235 (not to mention the Tudor GMT movement issues).

I guess it won’t matter since no one will be able to buy one without connections or the willingness to get in a long line or pay $1,000 over retail.

New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?

I wish they would do a new James Cameron style blue-dial Sea Dweller, and a 42mm JC style blue-dial Sub Date with 22mm lugs, both without a cyclops.

Yawning over here. The best Rolexes were were made before 2010 in my opinion. The new ones are overpriced, fairly boring, and unobtainable anyway.

As much as I dislike the thought of odd lug measurements, it seems likely considering how Rolex made the Deepsea more wearable/proportionate by a bit more lug taper and 1mm wider bracelet.

I’m sure this is just a photoshopped image, but it does look better to my eye than the current 114060.

I’ll take it with 21mm, no big deal. My dssd has 21 and never bothered me. The pic does look great 👍

I still see nothing improved over the 116600 which they inexplicably discontinued in favor of the fat and shiny SD with a cyclops.

So if this is what folks wanted, they had already made this watch years ago.

I wish Rolex would flex their size and infrastructure and produce something actually innovative or interesting rather than resting on the laurels of simply mastering market manipulation.
It would be more exciting for the watch community, but what is there to gain for Rolex? They are already massively popular with long waiting lists. Being a nonprofit, there is no shareholder pressure.

I understand why Rolex would do it. I don’t understand why the “watch community” gets excited about it.

I had to send back my SD43 for service here recently for a sudden movement issue. It started losing a ton of time from one day to the next. It kind of sucked because I sent it in, got my estimate and they said it would be a week, then the shutdown happened. They had my watch for a while. It's back now though and working like it should.

Good riddance, that was the worst shade of green on any watch ever.
The new one with green bezel and black dial is nice but hard to tell if the changed that hue
