Re: New Ranger
I actually like it on the leather/rubber hybrid strap too, although I'd still probably get the bracelet model.

Re: New Ranger
Something is off. Is the bezel thicker, dial opening smaller and the lugs wider? It almost lost its vintage-ness and elegance?

Re: New Ranger
Looking at these last two pics, the bezel definitely looks thicker, and the case looks chunkier.Panerai7 wrote:Something is off. Is the bezel thicker, dial opening smaller and the lugs wider? It almost lost its vintage-ness and elegance?

Re: New Ranger
I'm obviously partial to the original, but think they've done a better job this time on the design over the previous re-issue.
Re: New Ranger
The Ranger dates to 1966. . .but Tudor is tying it to a 70 year anniversary of a British expedition to Greenland? . .. hmmmmm.
I'm partial to the original 7966 of 34mm.
The new one is thicker and 39mm.
Will I buy one? Duh.
I think Tudor hit a home run with this one and it will sell like hot cakes for anyone trying to find an Explorer.
(This is not my spacedweller or my picture, but please IM me if you have one for me.)
To commemorate the Greenland expedition, they should have re-issued one of these like my original:
For the Ranger re-re-issue (they also had the North Flag earlier in their historic collection) they should have stayed true to the lumberjack as pictured in the 1969 catalog:
Re: New Ranger
Agree. I liked the 2014 Ranger reissue, but this one just looks better and truer to the original to me. Great movement, and really nice bracelet and clasp, too. Rapidly turning into a must-have for me.

Re: New Ranger
The new one looks a lot more finished to me. The first looked like it was made to hit a cheap price. This one looks like it was made to be a good watch.

That would be my move too.hoppyjr wrote:Yeah. Bracelet is stellar. If it fit my BB58 and provided it doesn’t sell first, I’ll toss bracelet on it. Wear Ranger on natos.jswing wrote:Yes, at least it's a similar idea. It's also available on nylon or a leather/rubber hybrid strap for $2750, but I'd go bracelet for sure. Easy enough to buy other options.
Must find one asap.

Re: New Ranger
the only thing I would change on this watch besides drilled lugs is a taller bezel. i chipped the crystal on my old E2 at least 3 times due to how high the crystal was.

A guy I moderated with on another forum was a huge Rolex nerd from Sweden who went by the User ID of Space Dweller seemed to be certain it was real and super rare.toxicavenger wrote:the only ones I have ever seen posted look fake. honestly i am not sure it is a "real" model from rolex. just a made up hype modelsmellody wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 12:49 pmI doubt it. Re: New Ranger
I know of that guy and I have seen him talked about in the past (if he is on reddit). There are a lot of bloggers/forum nerds who love to dig up old/rare info. If this watch was in production by Rolex I believe we would have seen some real history about it. Now I wouldn't be surprised if some department store or other brand decided to relabel it themselves. This wasn't super uncommon. Heck I am willing to be way back then there might have been a Rolex with Montgomery Wards/Sears Roebuck on the dial.

It doesn’t compare well against the Rolex IMO.
