Deployant question

This metal flap won’t close over the rubber.
What am I doing wrong?

The rubber is probably too thick. What’s this on? Is it aftermarket, was the rubber originally with it?

Sinn rubber. Included with the watch.

Looks like you have the old sinn rubber, with the new Sinn adjustable buckle. If you watch this vid from around 12:30 min mark he shows the new strap and buckle and the new strap is not flat, but crimped to allow that metal flap to close on it and lock into the clasp.
