Speedy MKII Question
Morn'n gents,
I picked up a Speedmaster MKII from 1969. She's been mechanically overhauled (love the smooth hand wind), and now I want to get he case re-lapped and crystal swapped. Anybody have a recommendation stateside that does nice casework?

Re: Speedy MKII Question
Nice looking watch. I'd hit up LA WatchWorks:
http://www.lawatchworks.com/
If they can't do it, I suspect that they would at least know can.

This watch is hot. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the case sharpened up. Love the vintage hooded lug speedies.

LA Watch Works, Sarraff Watchmaker, Art Dial Watch are the 3 I would recommend. Dope piece!

LA Watchworks quoted $750-$1000 to do the case. Waiting on another quote…

A thousand bucks is expensive, but it will be done really well and having had them work on it will add value when it’s time to sell.

Re: Speedy MKII Question
I don’t think I’d get that back in a sale though. We’ll see what Miami says. May just do the crystal.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 9:11 amA thousand bucks is expensive, but it will be done really well and having had them work on it will add value when it’s time to sell.

Re: Speedy MKII Question
No. Probably not. However you’d get some of the difference back and it might sell faster.demer03 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 9:13 amI don’t think I’d get that back in a sale though. It’s not super jacked up though, so just new crystal doesn’t seem unreasonable.

Good points as well. Regardless, I’m digging the MKII and omega sure knows how to make a comfortable bracelet.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 9:26 amNo. Probably not. Re: Speedy MKII Question
This will probably send some of y’all into apoplectic shock, but I tried setting up my own lapping station with a dremel fixed in place and cobbled scotchbrite “laps” on an adapter. It cleaned it up considerably with the first try.
Ordered a new crystal. Probably go at it again and set the new crystal and see what I’ve got.
