Omega’s Seamaster Chronoscope

Post by AtomicTom » Fri Sep 24, 2021 9:25 pm

Hey everyone, have you seen Omega’s Seamaster Chronoscope?

The watch has a 43mm stainless steel, or bronze case, 50m WR,
sapphire crystal, nice bezels, and dials with eye-catching hands,
and markers, plus tachymeter,
telemeter, and also pulsometer
scales. Not to mention Omega Co-Axial caliber 9908 behind things,
nice bracelets, leather straps, and more.

Almost awesome but not awesome. Putting an elegant dial that essentially looks like a PP grand complication into a huge Speedmaster style case is a very typical (eg, dumb) omega move.

That dial and movement in a tresor style case would have kicked ass.

But how would they have met their goal of 6 graduated rings with a non Speedy case? Whenever Omega is on that line between staying or adding more, they always add more.

I got excited when I saw "SEAmaster" in the title. Alas, yet another oversized SPEEDmaster.

I really do not like this one.

Someone said this was designed by someone formerly from Breitling? If that’s true, it definitely shows. That’s a recycled aesthetic if I’ve ever seen one.

I immediately though “Montbrillant” when I saw this one.

I like this style better in a dress watch.

I don’t like this either. I like the thinner manual wind movement, but the dial is lazy af.
