Thoughts on upgrading my blue SM300 for a blue OP41
Hey guys,
So…. I’m down to 4 watches, and want to be very intentional about what I buy and keep going forward. That being said, I plan to keep a blue dial piece in that group of 4, and currently have the new blue wave SM300.
The question/consideration: I’m considering moving it and replacing it with the Rolex 124300 OP41 blue dial. Thoughts on this? Am I crazy?
Thanks!
RJ

Two totally different vibes RJ.
I’d be torn on that decision. But, I think it boils down to bezel or no bezel.
I dig them both and would would prefer the Rolex if I already had something with a bezel.

This Seamaster?

I’ve owned both in blue. Go with the OP.
Sure, spec wise the Omega is superior but the OP wore like a dream and is much more versatile.
However, I wouldn’t pay a penny over retail for the OP.

I think it's a beautiful watch but the seamaster is too. I would also maybe get a little bored having only rolexes in my collection too. I like my sub but I don't like wearing it all the time. I actually feel a little self conscious about it sometimes. Not worried about being mugged or anything, more just looking like a materialistic douche to other people. I don't feel that at all with my seamaster even though it's also a very expensive watch. So I just think it fills a good spot in my small collection. It's not a huge deal to me and most people don't notice or don't care as we all know but I just think it would get old going all Rolex all the time.

Loved my OP41 and kick myself for selling, but I did ride the profit wave.
Totally different watches so it depends what you prefer.

Depends on the other watches. If you have a sub
, which I think you do, I’d sell the SMP as it fits the same category. I also find the SMP blue a hot bright for me. But it’s a heck of a watch. I want the white in fact.
The OP is surprisingly nice, will fit dressier situations yet will still be versatile enough for jeans and shorts. It wears amazing. The blue is less flashy.
Actually I’m on the list for an OP41 myself.
Post your collections.

Re: Thoughts on upgrading my blue SM300 for a blue OP41
or you could do something like keep the no date and the seamaster, sell the speedy and starbucks and pick up a polar exp 2?
black, white, blue and you trim it down to 3
or keep the no date, sell the speedy, blue seamaster and starbucks and then pick up a white seamaster and the blue OP41

I can’t stand the magnified date, although I tolerated it on the white dial Explorer because it is less noticeable.
I’d get rid of both date pieces, then pick up the OP41 and maybe a 39mm Explorer or Tudor FXD. All no dates and all wonderful pieces.
Heck, you could sell the green Sub & Seamaster, then get all three.

Re: Thoughts on upgrading my blue SM300 for a blue OP41
White dials don't seem to last for me, and I don't like the Explorer bezel, so that is out. 39mm is basically a no for me as well, so no. Had the FXD on the wrist the day it dropped and I think that I am just done with Tudor; sold the last 2 I owned, as I just didn't wear them much (also hated the hands).
Dates aren't an issue, just don't like the magnifier either, but it is growing on me, so not ready to let the Starbucks (aka Heineken) go just yet.
Looking more likely that I will just move the blue SM300 and go with the blue OP41. Will probably look at having the bezel pulled and brushed to match the case.

I’m sure LAWW could polish the bezel, but the sides of the case and bracelet will still be polished. They can brush it all if you wish.SoCal C4S wrote:White dials don't seem to last for me, and I don't like the Explorer bezel, so that is out. 39mm is basically a no for me as well, so no. Nah, I’m fine with the sides being polished. Just want the polished bezel brushed out.
That’s also another reason why I don’t get a DJ; I am not a fan of the fluted bezel, and just want a super clean dial and fixed bezel.

You can get the DJ without the gold fluted bezel.SoCal C4S wrote:Nah, I’m fine with the sides being polished. Just want the polished bezel brushed out.

The motif dial is hot too
