Something about Panerai. I sold my 111 thinking that I had gotten the Panerai love out of my system, then after about a month without one, I woke up every morning feeling like a giant piece of shit for not having one. I loved the 111, but hate the idea of buying a watch after I've already sold it. Much like going back to a girl after a break up. When It's over, it's over. The good and bad thing about Panerai is almost the same. There is a model and variation for just about any combo you can imagine, It's just a pain in the ass to research to find exactly what you want, as the Venn diagram posted earlier shows one model has probably a dozen combinations. I spent a while finding my currnet 024C. I wanted a polished bezel, and only A,B,C models had it. I can't find rhyme or reason for their system either.

The basic design language is very compelling to me, so the brand DOES have my interest and attention. That said, there are just an ass-tonne of combos and it gets mind boggling.

I do think that sandwich dial> applied indices> sausage dial. I could do a sandwich dial base model w/o sub seconds, but maybe not a sausage dial model w/o sub seconds. I know that so far I like the 111, the 176, and the subs.

Why not the 112 and 177?

Go with your gut. My first PAM was a 112G. I love the zero, 005, 111, etc., but two hands and the simple dial speak to me. While Rad's (210) and 1950's (243, 312) are awesome, they don't work for everybody. I have NEVER seen a Luminor cased PAM look bad on any wrist. It just plain works. Oh, and here was my first:
