Tubes vs Quick-Change system

Post by rockmastermike » Sat Jan 26, 2013 6:01 pm

I know tubes are recommended for PAMs to keep the strap from twisting and/or relieve pressure on the strap and pins (at least that's what I've read) sooooooo does the newer quick change set up eliminate the need for tubes or does it also utilize tubes?

why are tubes good for one set of PAMs by not for (newer) PAMs?

The tubes stop the strap from sticking to the screw bar and slowly unscrewing it. That is not a concern in the quick change cases but I would still use tubes to give the strap a little structure and prevent it from getting compressed against the lugs.

Makes sense about the threads, Chris, thanks. You mean one can use tubes along with the quick change without messing with how it operates?

Of course. The quick change models still come with tubes.
