Prob a dumb question, but

Post by Henryj » Sun Aug 13, 2023 11:31 am

Either I’m looking in the wrong place or all the current Luminors (non-divers) are 100 m WR now vice 300 m? WTF?
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

They decided to make “cheaper” Panerai models, with undecorated movements, snap on case back, and 100m water resistance.

I think as they have become more of a “fashion brand” (at least in my eyes) the more legit functionality takes a back seat.

So disappointing in the direction Panerai has gone in.. Those base models were awesome….I saw one all box and papers plus the extra rubber strap on David Orlando’s web site. It was listed for $5300….

914-915 are 300m.

You can always get a gently used older Gen though. That’s the way I’d go if you don’t want a 914or915

I’m pretty sure the new ones use spring bars, too. I’ll just find another nice 000 when I’m ready to get another Panerai.

Coincidentally I was just in the Miami OP Boutique and looked at the 44mm white dial Sub. Subs still use the push button release bars, but everything else felt like a step backwards. Wanted to love it, and was just meh.
