Most durable solar g shock with compass.

Post by ACE12355 » Mon Jun 14, 2021 1:36 pm

Hi. I am looking for the most durable wearherproof g shock with compass, probably a mudmaster. I heard the GGB100 is the most durable, but it has metal side buttons, which I believe means dirt and mud could get into easier than the G9300, which has rubber buttons that do not pertrude.

What ever happened to doing research? Reading reviews. Comparing specs. Using spellcheck.

That’s not what I’d call an intro post. Maybe try introducing yourself to the guys then ask them to do your homework for you. Oh…don’t forget the required nude pics of your hot wife or girl friend.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Please keep your disrespect to yourself.
To clarify, I have done a basic amount of research and found out that the GGB100 is the most durable according to an article, but I do not entirely trust articles. I then did some research about metal buttons vs rubber buttons, and tried to call Casio, but they are closed today.

Thank you for your time and help.

If you want the truth they are all about the same unless you are doing an extreme torture test to separate the top 0.2% performers. Buy the one that looks good to you. Everyday use isn't going to reach those extreme conditions unless you abuse your watch on purpose, or enjoy crawling in the mud.

I’ve tried most modern G’s and abused them to some extent - they are all very robust.

My favorite is the larger mudmaster but admittedly I can’t really pull it off with my small (but wiry!) wrists.

A good medium sized G that has a great compass is the Rangeman.

Good luck with your search.

This isn’t WUS dude. I suggest you do some looking around so you get a sense for the tone of this place.

To answer your question though, the metal buttons are worse for fisting.

Hey chestnut.
I posted quickly on a couple of forums..
Thanks for letting me know that this is a close knit community.

I’m getting a survival backpack together to be prepared to any possible unplanned worst case scenario. I’m looking for the most durable gear possible.
I have 2 automatics with screw down crowns, one backup. ( citizen and invicta), and a basic tough solar illuminator with no compass. Looking for the primary g shock.
Thanks for your help. I’m looking forward to posting here in the future.

We will need you to submit to a Covid test, full background check, and a medical exam (conducted by Dr Ben).

If you pass those, we consider you for membership, provided you post the photos of your significant other, as this is standard protocol. Pro Tip: Keep your junk out of the photos.

Once in, you’ll be able to use the forum freely and even have access to our regional safe rooms, designed as dual-purpose facilities that can accommodate both end-of-days situations and Twister parties.

Our leader may also want you to wear a specific brand of cologne.

If you feel disrespected already, you likely won’t enjoy your stay with us.

BBK.. thanks for your response..
But what I was thinking is extreme.. metal buttons on the side would leave more room for dirt /mud to get into and have a higher chance of breaking than the rubber buttons on the G9300.. that’s pretty much what I was wondering. Like I said. I called Casio today but they were closed and they wouldn’t know anyway.. hoping to get some expert advice. Thank you :)

Thank you Hoop.. hope I am welcome.

What are your pronouns? Any good intro post should include this.

It’s 2021 after all.

I have found that they stand up better to bleach cleaning after though. Anecdotal research on my part though.

True. They're perfect for S&M.

Survival backpack doesn't need a watch, let alone watches. I suggest a bottle of scotch instead.

Sharp edges could be a good thing or bad thing in that scenario depending on your goals.

Take a look at the testing videos on YouTube. Any gshock will survive much more than your arm.

I've worn a number mountain biking and crashed on them, and never had a problem. And have used them on motorcycle road trips both on and off road.

Having said that, I keep a 30 year old Timex ironman strapped to the handlebars of my endure bike and have for at least 10 years and it is still going strong.

Your focus is better off elsewhere

Tl;dr go buy a rangeman, they rock.

Hey.. thank you all to those who shared your incredible advice.. anyway I learned from my experiences . It’s not about some crazy apocalypse.. that’s not all.. I learned from experience because I had an emergency and had to leave my house and had no where to live for a year and a half. I had to look at the sun to guess what time soup kitchens and the homeless shelter would open.. and I slept on the beach so that’s a main reason I am concerned about the buttons / rubber.. so ever since then I knew the value of having excellent survival gear..
I’ll probably go for the GW9300 with compass and multi band 6 because it has the rubber buttons.

thank you all very much for you incredible help.

New advice now that you have better defined your circumstance. Your survival kit needs to be three months of living expenses in the bank. Live cheaply and save. You have enough watches. If you really need a compass then buy a cheap one (like $5-10 cheap).

I think the GW9300 is an excellent choice for long term.
I also agree almost any G Shock will survive everything you put them through
