I mean it's cool and all, but I really don't see a big enough difference to get this over the regular metal squares and I don't freak out when I scratch my $600 gold one. I'm sure it'll sell all the same like the $1600 titanium one because squares are all the rage and I feel it is Casio's best digital design, but I'll personally stick with the standard ones. They're still affordable enough to treat it like a G-Shock.

How much better is this going to be over the titanium GMWB5000 w/ sapphire crystal? Even the Ti version shouldn't cost over $800 msrp imo.

I don't see what could be so much better to be honest. I'd definitely take another plain stainless one though. The SS ones seem like a good price point.

Older thread but I will chip in my 2 cents. The MR G squares required a complete retooling and a lot of “post production” finessing. As opposed to the normal G-Shock square’s “monocoque” body, the MR G squares are made up of many separately tooled pieces. This enabled Casio to be able to selectively polish different surfaces of each part - mostly done by hand.

The result is a subtle shifting of the light as the watch is moved engendering a high tech, exclusive feel. In addition, it is built from a particularly high grade titanium and finished off with their DLC protective coating making it more comfortable and temperature stable on the wrist compared to a stainless steel watch.

Whether all that is worth the extra money of course is a personal thing for the individual.
