Quick Q: anyone know how to lock Pandora so nobody can mess

Post by Sidheguitarist » Thu Oct 29, 2015 1:26 pm

With it?

Reason being: friend of mine owns a restaurant with an iPod plying Pandora shuffle stations, but she keeps coming in at night to find that employees have switched it to urban, classic rock, whatever floats their own personal boats while old people are trying to eat. Can't fire everyone, so she asked me if I knew how to lock Pandora--which I don't. But maybe one of you has an answer.

Locking the pod itself is suboptimal, because sometimes it crashes; need to turn off at close, etc etc.

Thoughts? She just wants me to program a rotation of the type of stuff she wants playing and then password Pandora itself.

TIA, if anyone has and idea.

How about a compact disc or memory card holding hundreds of songs? Foolproof.

Don't believe there is a way. It requires a password of course to get in, but once done of course anyone can use it.

I would suggest she has a meeting with her employees and tell them the iPod is hers, and off limits to employees and the next time it is touched beyond shutting it off, a random person will be fired if she doesn't know exactly who did it.

Also tell them to install a section camera in dining room and kitchen.

At the office we use pandora for radio and have it one desktop in a locked office. Only employees with access to the office AND that computer can change the stations. And those employees know and understand the approved play stations.

Easy fix, put somebody in charge of only playing the approved music. check and verify it rules aren't being followed, punish the person who was left in charge.

I always thought that playing a music service like Pandora over speakers in a commercial setting for customers is a commercial use and is not permitted by the user license or terms of service.

True..
At our office we subscribe to Pandora for business.

To back up your point. A lot of the schools in the area just got letters stating that when we hold a "movie night" as a small fundraiser, it is illegal to show a movie (even one we rented from the library , in this past week's case, Disney's Snow buddies) without purchasing a license for the evening and paying proper fees.

Yup. Assign a directly responsible individual. Management 101 :).
