Game console help

Post by sierra11b » Fri Mar 15, 2019 10:57 pm

Come from the Atari and early Nintendo era but have been playing in-laws gifted WII for a couple years, and am thinking about the Nintendo Switch for some rainy day and late night family popcorn fun.

Also have the NES and SNES mini bundles which are decent fun, but more for me, although my son loves street fighter II. I haven’t bought a new serious console since ps2 in 2001.

I must admit the latest LEGO movie 2 has me and my son intrigued.

Am I wrong in pursuing this platform for household play with children? Can you attach to TV or is it strictly hand held? What’s the cheapest avenue? I have no idea.

Anyone thinking of parting?

The Nintendo Switch comes with a charging station that connects the device to the TV via an HDMI port, so this device can be used both in the house and for travel.

too many consoles in my house and I play ---0 ---

that said.... 2 of my 4 kids like to play and play PS4.... reasons. graphics, games.... and that's the system their friend group has. the kids can all play online in the comfort of their own home. Starts around middle school, especially with boys -- although my daughter can hold her own.

loads play Wii and Switch, but it seems to me the kids drift to XBox and PS4 once they get into it more and figure out what all the other kids are playing.

We use Xbox one. Just seems the games are the ones my kid really digs especially some Xbox only titles. That said lately the shit he plays isn't even console games, rather Roblox etc.

We have two PS4 and my little guy also has a Switch. If I was only buying one, it would probably be the PS4 or XBox.

We've got all the consoles, and the only one we ever boot up is the switch. Our xbone has been unplugged for weeks and we didn't even realize it.

Switch all the way.

I have xbox one and switch (before that the wiiu). Oldest son is 9 and the switch is used the most. I'm sure when he's older the Xbox one or a PS4 will be used more. So, take into consideration de age of the kids and the games they like.

We have xbox one and switch.

My son goes back and forth depending on the games or what his cousin is getting him into.

I love the switch. Very cool machine. And playing the new MARIO kart and smash bros puts me in a happy place.

I think the Switch is a much better platform for young kids.

My son plays xbox- head set on and him and his
friends play for hours. It’s like a virtual hang out for them. He used to play Wii but not any more.

Thanks for all the advice.

Bought a Switch and these games:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super smash bros ultimate
Lego Ninjago
Lego Marvel Superheros 2

Son loves the Wii LEGO games so I hope these stack up.

First "current" game console I've owned since SNES.
