Asking for help here fellas. I bought a pair of the Wolverine 1000 mile in September last year, and bizarrely in January they developed a painful crease across the top of my foot. They were perfect for 4 months and then right during a long walk from one end of midway to the other, it started. No amount of adjusting the laces helps.
Suggestions?
I would try some shoe trees and conditioner to see if it can soften out the hot spot.
Are these them:

If so, Chromexcel should be pretty soft out of the box. It will, however, crease is the untidy way that you're seeing and if those were mine and I saw a crease like that, I would think the fit is wrong.
Here's what I would suggest. First, get the following:
1) Good, full foot shoe trees that feet at least decently. So something like this:

not something like this:

2) GOOD, leather conditioner. This isn't the best in the world, but it's probably at least 90% as good, cheap, and easy to get:

3) Buy a good horse hair brush if you don't have one. This would be fine:

You want one that's big and has firm bristles.
I would then install the shoes trees, give the boots a solid coat of the Venetian shoe cream, and then brush the shit out of them until you're sick of it. The longer the better. Chromexcel leather is hot stuffed, so the heat generated by the brush will increase the suppleness of the leather.
Then, let them sit with the trees in the for a couple days. If you're happy, then do this periodically. If you're not, the best way to get the creases to settle is to do 1-3 AND THEN use this:

You run the deer bone over the creases, which generates heat, and smooths them out. Why? I don't know -- but I do that to all my Shell Cordovan shoes and it makes them look almost new.
Regarding the fit -- are they overly voluminous in the forefoot? I only get creases like that when the toe box of a shoe is too fair above the top of my foot.
