Asking for help here fellas. I bought a pair of the Wolverine 1000 mile in September last year, and bizarrely in January they developed a painful crease across the top of my foot. They were perfect for 4 months and then right during a long walk from one end of midway to the other, it started. No amount of adjusting the laces helps.

Suggestions?
I would try some shoe trees and conditioner to see if it can soften out the hot spot.

Let's see a pic Mike...
Did you treat them with anything? Have you used shoe trees?
I like to shoe tree mine and then apply something like Obenaufs --- then I heat the obenaufs up with a hair dryer and let them sit. Helps mine keep the shape.

WOLVs do seem to break down quicker than RWs..... takes quite a bit of wear to break in Red Wings....
Sorry, grabbed Cesar’s comment. Pics above^^

I've got shoe trees for all my redwings and a couple shoe stretchers with adjustable metal adapters to isolate abs stretch pressure points.

Suggestions?

As above, I'd keep them on shoe trees when not being warm and give them a good conditioning over the vamp. With the reinforced leather over the toe cap and the lace area, that will be a natural stress point. They'll still crease in that area, but the leather should soften to where it molds to your foot without pressure.

If so, Chromexcel should be pretty soft out of the box. It will, however, crease is the untidy way that you're seeing and if those were mine and I saw a crease like that, I would think the fit is wrong.

Here's what I would suggest. First, get the following:
1) Good, full foot shoe trees that feet at least decently. So something like this:
https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/me ... -ec4006898
not something like this:
https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/me ... ec4006208

2) GOOD, leather conditioner. This isn't the best in the world, but it's probably at least 90% as good, cheap, and easy to get:
https://www.amazon.com/Venetian-Shoe-Cr ... 1795103334

3) Buy a good horse hair brush if you don't have one. This would be fine: https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/ho ... -ec4008978
You want one that's big and has firm bristles.

I would then install the shoes trees, give the boots a solid coat of the Venetian shoe cream, and then brush the shit out of them until you're sick of it. The longer the better. Chromexcel leather is hot stuffed, so the heat generated by the brush will increase the suppleness of the leather.

Then, let them sit with the trees in the for a couple days. If you're happy, then do this periodically. If you're not, the best way to get the creases to settle is to do 1-3 AND THEN use this:
https://www.theshoemart.com/abbeyhorn-m ... ooEALw_wcB

You run the deer bone over the creases, which generates heat, and smooths them out. Why? I don't know -- but I do that to all my Shell Cordovan shoes and it makes them look almost new.

Regarding the fit -- are they overly voluminous in the forefoot? I only get creases like that when the toe box of a shoe is too fair above the top of my foot.

^^^^ I use Obenaufs or Bick 4 conditioner.... and I apply with hands. Like Jacob mentions you need to generate heat. I use my hands on the boots like I'm breaking in a ball glove. I use the hair dryer as well and the conditioner soaks into the seams..

In the future, when you get a new pair of leather dress shoes or boots you should use a pen to set the crease. It won't always be perfect, but it will be a lot better.

Bick 4 won’t darken the leather which is a plus for some.

Obenaufs is great. I bought a set of Stratton shoe trees and really like them.

I'll just leave this here.

https://www.gearpatrol.com/style/a44766 ... cs-collab/
On August 9 at 2 p.m. ET, the MSCHF x Crocs collab will debut during a 24-hour draw exclusively on the MSCHF Sneaker app for $450. After the draw, you can expect to see the boots on third-party reselling sites like StockX and GOAT. But be warned; the boots will most likely have a price markup.

I don't have the African Rangers, but have a pair of Outbacks and Vellies.
Well made for the money with a wide-toe box.
Replace the insoles and you will be good to go.

OK, they were put away for summer, but I dug them out and started with the Bick today. Fingers crossed!

Suggestions?
A couple of my boots with Horween Chromexel have developed a nice vamp “role” (similar to shell cordovan), but most of my Horween Chromexel have these same nasty vamp creases.
Nothing in the world will remove those creases. Nothing.

Apply a generous coat of “Huberd’s Shoe Grease”
Allow it them to sit 1 hour.
Apply a second generous coat of HSG and put those mother fuckers on your feet with two or three pairs of socks.
Wear those MFs for a several hours. Done.

Will it increase width, length l, or girth by a full shoe size?? NO.
But… if you need a cunt hair of space, it works.

It really makes stiff full grain leather - soft.

HSG smells like my asshole and gives the impression of darkening the leather, but goes away…

Bick 4 is the best conditioner, but it will not saturate the Chromexel like HSG.

You could try a boot stretcher or use moleskin under the crease.

I’ve been trying all of the above the last couple of weeks. Hopefully when it gets cool enough to wear them, they will be soft and supple. I will report back when the maiden voyage takes place.
