Red Wing stores will send them back to the factory. I think it was about $65 for soles, laces, & eyelets.

To do it again I’d specify the mini-Vibram sole like my dark grey IR’s have. These and my copper ones have the smooth sole.

Can you spec a non-original replacement sole when you send these to RW directly?

The IR’s are now available with either the plain sole or the mini-Vibram, so you can request either.

I don’t know if this would have helped your situation, but how much did you oil the leather before wearing? I bought a pair of Keen “Austin” that start off with really stiff leather upper. Oiled them three times. They were still stiff after second treatment, but became acceptably pliable after the third. I use Obenauf’s Leather Oil.

To be clear, the IR’s in photo are wonderful, it’s the new 1907’s that are breaking in. I just had the Red Wing guy oil them up once before purchase. I’ve worn them maybe four separate days now, so I expect it to take a while. I may pick up some Obenauf’s and give them a couple coats. Thanks

Breaking in a new pair of Helm's while I'm in the office. Very comfy even though they are new.

Almost pulled the trigger on these a few times. Would love to get your feedback after you had them for a few weeks. What price did you get them for?

A very overdue update on the Helm boots. These break in easily and are very soft. Great support. I can stand at my desk all day (if I'm walking at work I have on the 4421 steel toe Redwings). The leather is thick but that's not a problem because the upper softened up. I don't know boots very well but they seem very well constructed.

They run true to size as any shoe. lol.
I wear an 11 in almost all lightweight or rubber soled boots, or tactical boot, and these are an 11. I wear a 10.5 in most Goodyear welted leather boots and a 12 in Nikes.
I wouldn’t say they are narrow nor wide and have good arch support.

I'll play just because I broke these out last night for a date night with he wife. I haven't worn these in about 10 years. Just in the back of the closet but I keep them for sentimental reasons. I have had them for close to 30 years. Nocona wingtips.

The three most vivid memories that I have of my father are: how rough his beard was, the smell of his coffee on the weekends, and watching him lace his Cuban heel nearly knee high Whites before going out on fire calls.

Love the Beckmans.
Got hooked on a Red Wing binge thanks to the enablers here.
Ended up with the Beckmans in black, oxblood, cigar, and tan.
Iron rangers in charcoal and copper
Black rogue rangers
And a pair of chukka boots and Beckman shoes.

But we've got the biggest bearings of them all!

Actually the largest pillow blocks I work with are about the size of a pair of boots. Nice pair of boots you've got there.

Asking for help here fellas. I bought a pair of the Wolverine 1000 mile in September last year, and bizarrely in January they developed a painful crease across the top of my foot. They were perfect for 4 months and then right during a long walk from one end of midway to the other, it started. No amount of adjusting the laces helps.

Suggestions?

Let's see a pic Mike...
Did you treat them with anything? Have you used shoe trees?
I like to shoe tree mine and then apply something like Obenaufs --- then I heat the obenaufs up with a hair dryer and let them sit. Helps mine keep the shape.

WOLVs do seem to break down quicker than RWs..... takes quite a bit of wear to break in Red Wings....

I would try some shoe trees and conditioner to see if it can soften out the hot spot.
