What Are The Odds?

Post by mattcantwin » Sun Oct 25, 2020 10:39 am

When my son and family left two years ago, they left us a huge computer cabinet.

We decided it's just too big and I'm cutting it up for firewood.

Kept the doors and shelves, tossed the backing and cut the rest up.

I guess sooner or later, this is bound to happen:

I don't recall ever bisecting a screw before.

I do that with circular saw blades all the time. Especially those cheap ass overseas screws. one thing is I would not burn that wood in your house. that shit is coated with some chemicals that will get you sick. we have people burning old furniture and pallets overseas and it was making them sick.

^^^ This. Plus the glue on the joints and in dowel holes and any filler they used to disguise blemishes will release all kind of nasties when burned.

Didn’t realize it would pose an issue; should be safe for the outside fires, yes?

outside as long as no one is hanging around it. the shit they use on boards is toxic. pressure treated in another board you do not want to burn.

I’ve been around a small outdoor fire when someone threw 2x4 scrap into the fire. Noxious smoke and could tell something else was in that wood.
