I've been trying to pick up a Type II recently, and had chased the usual suspects: the Benrus re-issue which is very nice but a bit pricey; almost got that MKII Blackwater listed here, but was too late; several times nearly gave in and bought the new Marathon steel Navigator too, but dislike quartz too much; but finally the stars aligned and I got a nice vintage Adanac.
Its got all the things you'd expect in a watch made in 1990 - fixed lug bars, bi-directional 60 click bezel, slim case but rock solid with 200M WR. The extra treat is somebody along the way converted it with an ETA automatic movement (seller included the original quartz movt and handset if I want to reverse the move). Its keeping + 3 seconds a day on my wrist, too. Its in very good condition for a 1990 watch, and has that nice vintage vibe of a military contract piece.
From what I've seen, these were originally made by Marathon using spare Gallet cases, so the case is marked 'Gallet' along with the NSN numbers and manufacture date. Apparently, someone at Canadian company Marathon had a sense of humor and labeled these with ADANAC which is CANADA spelled backwards - a little like the Enicar watches from Racine I guess. With the auto movement and handset change, its not quite a purist's watch, but it does tick off all the boxes I was looking for in a comfortable, no worry, nostalgic look-back military watch.

Nice catch Seth! It’s the grandfather to my current steel Navigator. Love it.
I wish Marathon would do a modern auto, using Maraglo (Superluminova) instead of tritium.

Re: Type II Variation
Crazy it had enough room to put an auto movement in it. Congrats on it!
