Hi guys and gals and knowledgable folk.
I joined because I figured you can help ….,
I’m interested if anyone can shed any light on this rare piece by Jean Richard & AQUASTAR. This has come into my possession via a family connection that in turn had a family member that was a keen diver in the early days of the sport.
it’s obviously a top end state of the art piece of kit in the late 50’s early 60’s.
I cost DOUBLE what a Blancpain 50 fathoms cost at the time.
Every piece is signed AQUASTAR and it is the same watch reference 60 1903 that accompanied Challenger Deep to the Mariana Trench.
I guessed the place to ask would be here

Welcome and great set up!
I have a similar Aquastar. Mine has a Jean Richard/AQ dial, which I don’t have with me at the moment. Peter Millar’s first Aquastar book has as good a history as you’re likely to get.
The Aquastar FB group is also the place for you. Peter posts there and many of the members know AQ better than anyone. Also the owner of AQ, Rick Marie, posts there occasionally.
I’ll post pics next week of my AQ and the book.

Very cool.
Yours is obviously the European version, as the one depicted in that ad you posted features a depth gauge in feet and thermometer in Fahrenheit.
