Certina DS PH500M

Post by demer03 » Mon Jul 31, 2023 6:48 am

10 years ago, I sold a beautiful Certina DS PH500M chasing some other shiny object. Since then, it has been a goal to try and find another one that didn't break the bank. I was lucky to find a well worn, but serviced model from another vintage guy on Instagram. After ooo-ing and ahhh-ing over each others posts, we struck a deal and she is on the way.

Certina was on the forefront of early ocean exploration, and was intimately involved with the Tektite Experiment of 1969.

Fun little read for those interested:

So, my little worn and pre-loved definitely has the battle scars of a watch that was truly purpose driven. It is likely the UFO model of 1968 with a tekitite/1000ph hour and minute hand set (they should be polished steel), but beggars can't be choosers.

Looking forward to receiving this later in the week. The fever has been full bore for a few years...

Fantastic Mike. Easily a top five on my list. These are rare and almost unobtainable as you know. Glad you were able to track one down. Congrats!
