Seeing this sold for USD800

I just shook my head. Probably the biggest jump in price for a 10 year old Seiko. I remember those were USD250-300 new not long ago.

What's the current close equivalent model for this? A Grand Seiko Quartz Diver??

It's nothing near grand seiko. It's just a quartz 007 with an upgraded movement.

Any idea if Seiko discontinue that movement or upgrade to GS level? I should not have said GS but perhaps 7C43 Tuna to that price range.

Not exactly. The case is narrower than the SKX. I consider myself small wristed (6.5"), and I flipped one because it seemed too small.

I don't think there is any current equivalent to this. It's a shame that the haven't reissued something like a modern version of the 7548. I would be all over a new quartz watch in the SKX or turtle style case.

I had one. It was better finished than the SKX007 imo. I liked everything about it, but the size. One thing is this movement has some parts on it that tend to break. Unfortunately parts are pretty much non-existent for it. The other issue was it is small. I think it felt smaller than a SKX013. But I can't remember.

The case is 39mm from what I read. They should have improve to SKX case.

the design of it makes it wear smaller than 39mm. kind of like how the skx is 42mm but wears smaller.

I’ve always wanted one. I almost bought one for $400 years ago. At $800 I’ll never even think about it.

Yep. I wish Seiko just had a “regular” quartz diver. No solar, massive (for me) tuna case, etc.

This.
Give me a 7c46 tuna at equal or lesser value which is more watch anyway.
These are now collector pieces and not worth the price imho... it’s pretty obvious Seiko discontinued them around the time they were heavily campaigning their GS quartz.

Same here, though I never realized it was that small. Prices were always in that $400 you reference, range which seemed too high.

I bought one for my wife back in 07. Definitely smaller than a 007. She never wore it so it got sold in the Great Depression of 09
