That end link is so weird.

I specifically came in here to check out the new MM 200m.
Maybe it’s just me, but damn these are super blingie! Don’t get me wrong, the finishing is superb! I’m probably just too used to wearing my bead blasted Sinn’s. Plus 38.5mm is a no go for me

Agreed the new MM's definitely look a little to polished!

If you're referring to the stepped endlink, I rate it "yuck".toxicavenger wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 8:14 pmThey do that shit a lot but it looks worse on this one.

As per usual, it looks better in real life than their images. I thought these were 40-40.5 mm ?spring-diver wrote:My project is literally five minutes away from legendary Arizona Fine Time. For those that don’t know, they were the first Grand Seiko AD in the USA.

Edit: the specs say 39.5
I wish they’d simply do the exact MM300 design, but slimmer with the 8L movement.
Re: New Seiko Thread
It’s just not guaranteed though. I had 2 SBDX001, one was running -8spd and the other +12spd.
Very consistently.
I could have had them regulated, but 1) the MM300 did not stick due to thickness 2) these things cost $1500 new at the time.
I like these new ones in the flesh much better than I thought I would.
Don’t like the hands without overhang, and the bracelet construction as a whole.

Boutique lighting is always super harsh and makes watches look weird too. But yeah that thing does look rather shiny!

Wow....So apparently mentioning Lia Thomas is not allowed either.
Re: New Seiko Thread
I liked these even in the catalog pics.
Wish they were 41-42-43mm

I mention this as someone who is mostly aligned with you…this just isn’t the place. No one wants that type of discourse on a watch forum. Plenty of other places for it. I personally come here to escape that.59yukon01 wrote:Wow....So apparently mentioning Lia Thomas is not allowed either.

I sincerely wasn't trying to be political. I thought calling that watch a Marinemaster was like calling "it" a woman. It just isn't so.Chocodove wrote:I mention this as someone who is mostly aligned with you…this just isn’t the place. No one wants that type of discourse on a watch forum. You can look over the stupid s*** thread right now and find stuff that could be taken controversial if you pick it apart. This place has changed over the years that's all I can say.

I edited the 38.5mm mistake

Beside size, what really killed it for me is the high polished insert & bezel “teeth”. It lost all of the detail and grip from over polishing. Just like the 6309 vs SPR Turtles. If Seiko would have used a matte insert to match the matte finished dial and just brush the bezel, it would have had much better contrast and grip. End links, bracelet and clasp are a joke.

Re: New Seiko Thread
The OGs were finished to a higher standard. Compare the bezel knurling on a 6309 to that of an SRP.spring-diver wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 6:28 amBeside size, what really killed it for me is the high polished insert & bezel “teeth”. Even the early SKX007s were crisper than the later ones.
Don't make 'em like they used to.

Re: New Seiko Thread
In fairness, the MM300 bracelet was terrible too, with those super long links (+the thickness) it was near impossible to find a right fit.
And the super long clasp?
Lol
Re: New Seiko Thread
I didn't mind the MM300 bracelet and managed to get a good fit. It was the top heaviness that was a factor and could have benefited from wider lugs... They could have made this rendition so much better but missed the mark.

I got a good fit with the bracelet as well, but for everyday wear the comfort provided with the fitted Crafter Blue rubber cannot be beat.

^ I’m not excited about those.
I think Seiko should have a basic looking piece like these, but with the new 6L movement. Charge $1500 +/- and it would be a nice daily diver.

Could very well be the angle but the second to last pic also features a misaligned bezelhoppyjr wrote:^ I’m not excited about those.

I do like these for the most part, though. The subtle changes work for me other than the “3 day” text on the dial, which is completely unnecessary IMO.
And…6R movements need to be outlawed.

Re: New Seiko Thread
Didn't notice the 3 day text at first, but that's ridiculous imo. If they worried more about accuracy with the 6R rather than power reserve I'm betting they would attract far more buyers.

It’s also the first non professional with 300m
Like Ed mentioned, give it a 6L and it would be more tempting.

They are sucking the 62mas line dry with ideas!

The blue one looks sharp.
I wonder what the difference is between the 6R35 and 6R55. 70-h PR vs. 73-h PR?
