Watch is definitely hot, nice to see that at least anecdotally the tested watch was super accurate. Hopefully they are regulating them for this $$.spring-diver wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 9:10 pmDamn! This is friking killer

Re: New Seiko Thread
Not sure if you guys caught Seiko's new Prospex Save the Ocean
Monster, along with Baby Tuna yet.
It looks like both of the watches have a new deeper blue textured
with penguins as part of the dial pattern. Then you also have 200M
WR,Hardlex crystals, unidirectional bezels, nice bracelets, and straps.
But the Monster has a 42.4mm case, and has the 4R36 inside. While
the Baby Tuna has a 43.2mm case, and 4R35 underneath everything.
Some pictures for you...

Re: New Seiko Thread
Nice, Tom; I might add that Tuna down the line.
Re: New Seiko Thread
Thanks a ton for sharing your thoughts sir !!!
I am picturing it on your wrist now Matt. Would be awesome I think.
Because the watch itself is so unique, but then these dials Seiko have
been coming up with in the last few years add even more personality
too. ..I'm so happy you liked them !
Re: New Seiko Thread
O.K., and here's another new Seiko you may, or may not have already
checked out guys.
This new Grand Seiko Spring Drive ‘White Birch’ is part of the Evolution
9 Collection. And adds the Caliber 9RA2 Spring Drive movement to the
watch. In addition, you have a 40mm Zaratsu polished stainless steel
case, 100m WR, dual curved sapphire crystal, eye-catching textured
'White Birch' effect dial, and nice stainless steel bracelet too.
Some pics for you...

8L35? If so, the guys on the SLA049/051 thread on WUS seem to be reporting decent accuracy too.dnslater wrote:Watch is definitely hot, nice to see that at least anecdotally the tested watch was super accurate. Re: New Seiko Thread
That looks nice Tom, and I'm sure it's incredibly well finished. Even so, so many of these GS releases are such a minor tweak on a common theme. They probably have 200 references over the last couple years that are effectively identical to the above.
New Seiko Thread
I’ll probably be picking up something new for the first time in a long time soon and was really considering the SLA055…but I could get a BB58 blue for the same/less (depending on Seiko discount). Can’t see the Seiko being more versatile or a better value…
Nice review, though.
Nice review, though.

Re: New Seiko Thread
The White Birch high beat is the best selling Grand Seiko watch right now, mainly because it has a design similar to the Snowflake, but is probably the only Grand Seiko that is completely brushed, so it feels more modern. Smart of them to make a Spring Drive version.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 1:09 pmThat looks nice Tom, and I'm sure it's incredibly well finished. Re: New Seiko Thread
I’d wear that White Birch Spring Drive for certain. I found the Snowflake a bit larger than expected, so this at 40mm might wear a bit better.dnslater wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 3:45 pmThe White Birch high beat is the best selling Grand Seiko watch right now, mainly because it has a design similar to the Snowflake, but is probably the only Grand Seiko that is completely brushed, so it feels more modern. I also like the power reserve indicator on the back under the rotor. It’s there to see it when you’d like to know the reserve (like in the morning as you put on the watch), but not cluttering up the dial. Very nice enhancement.

It's funny because these watches are impressive enough wihtout these
jaw dropping dials. But add in the dial, and it's immediately kicked up
notches unknown. The watches stay as elegant as they would have
been with a normal dial. However, you get an added wow factor which
takes your breath away without taking anything away from the watch.
Only adding to the feel.
Pretty terrific. ..So was hearing what you guys thought !
..Thanks so so much for sharing your thoughts everyone !!!
Re: New Seiko Thread
O.K. and, here are a couple more Grand Seiko models for you guys.
Not sure if you saw them.
First up there's the GMT 20th Anniversary Limited Edition with it's
44mm stainless steel case, 200m WR, sapphire crystal, dual tone

Spring Drive GMT Caliber 9R16 behind things.
Next you have the 15th Anniversary Limited Editition which has a
43.5mm titanium case, 100m WR sapphire crystal, the neat ice,
and snow covered dial, titanium bracelet, and then Spring Drive
Chronograph GMT Caliber 9R96 this time around.

Re: New Seiko Thread
Nice watches, but I'm not a fan of the "pinstripe" bracelets that they seem to pair with most of their high-end offerings.
Re: New Seiko Thread
It's a really fantastic point Myles. Wouldn't it be cool if they had the watch
come with a few bracelet options? Or even came with multiple bracelets/straps?!
Honestly would be cool.
I'm happy you like them though, and it was terrific hearing what you had
to say. Thanks so much !!!

Re: New Seiko Thread
The design of the GS chronograph is so damn ugly. They look like a Picasso picture of a real watch. The white/blue ceramic GMT is cool, but it was a weird choice to skip the border on the date window -- looks very unfinished on a GS.
Re: New Seiko Thread
I just knew they’d be sticking a 6R in there. That’s an automatic no for me 99% of the time.Seppia wrote:

Apparently there's a chance King Seiko will become what the old GS used to be.
List price is $1700, so if it comes down to a real price of around $1000 as expected this could become a great offering.

Re: New Seiko Thread
I’ve had relatively decent luck with the 6R’s, but the two that were bad, were bad. One died right after I sold it to someone (covered under warranty) and another was like -13.
The SPB187 I currently have is +4ish after 8 months.
I get it, though. It really is kinda a crapshoot.

Re: New Seiko Thread
I played the 6r lottery with my $1200 SPB143 and it gains 10-15 seconds / day. I have to many more accurate watches and just don't wear it much due to this. I'm fine with that level of accuracy on a $300 SKX or Turtle, but I think once you get over $1k they need to get their shit together and offer a more accurate movement. Seiko is easily capable of scaling up some sort of automated regulation, they just don't seem to care to.Chocodove wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 5:12 amI’ve had relatively decent luck with the 6R’s, but the two that were bad, were bad. You can buy a chronometer grade Mido, Hamilton and Longines for well under $2k. If Swatch can do it, Seiko can do it easily. Christopher Ward will sell you a swiss chronometer watch for $1200.
It pisses me off because they offer so many great watches, but there is always the "yeah but the movement".
