They run great after a service, but why should a six-month-old watch need to be serviced?

Re: New Seiko Thread
Exactly. We are all begging for better accuracy with these and they give us more PR instead.

I wonder what the difference is between the 6R35 and 6R55. 70-h PR vs. 73-h PR?

Specs on paper seem pretty similar, but sounds like the 6R55 is considered an update. It may be a little slimmer also... was released initially in some pretty thin King Seiko's late last year. Published accuracy is the same, but hopefully real world is better.
Re: New Seiko Thread
At the very least, it stands for "Return for service."
I had good luck with 6R15s, but my one and only 6R35 was great for a few months, then started losing almost a minute per day. Fortunately it was still under warranty, so I sent it in. It came back running like new, and has continued to do so for going on a year.
I have a hunch they're over oiled, and the excess oil ends up migrating to somewhere it shouldn't be.
Re: New Seiko Thread
Guys, have you seen these new Seiko 5 Sports SNXS watches?
They have 37.4mm cases, Navy blue, black, and ivory white dials,
in house Seiko calibre 4R36, newly designed bracelets, and more.

I like these bracelets but kinda small. Thanx for sharing Tom
Re: New Seiko Thread
Seiko product shots usually really, really suck. They are so terrible they make grand seiko watches look like a $300 quartz.AtomicTom wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 9:31 amGuys, have you seen these new Seiko 5 Sports SNXS watches?

But wow, these pics above may be the worst I have EVER seen. The off colors, the confused background, the weird inclined perspective for no real reason and that makes the watch look worse?
I mean WFT?
The probably produced those on a Friday after they all went out Thursday at the izakaya, downing 256 highballs and finishing off with the karaoke at 3 am.

Tom, thanks to you for sharing. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude are contagious and I am grateful for what you post here
Mine was a critique of Seiko, I’m sure the watches look way better in real life as they always do

Re: New Seiko Thread
That makes a lot of sense. Been wearing my SARB all this week for the first time I’ve worn it in probably 6 months. Was running fast. Thought it was magnetized. Tried demagnetizing it. No change. All of a sudden it’s been bang on the last two days like it was when I originally regulated it. I must have spread the oil back around or something. I’ve got nothing else to explain it.Selym wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 8:16 amAt the very least, it stands for "Return for service."

Every 6R I’ve had eventually ran slow. This was the first that I had the balls to pop open and regulate. I had only messed with 4Rs and 7Ss before that. It just would feel like the regulation would never hold. You might be right about the oil.
