Grand Seiko Hi-Beat “Shirakaba”

Post by AtomicTom » Tue Feb 16, 2021 11:34 am

Guys, have you had a chance to see the new Grand Seiko
Hi-Beat “Shirakaba” SLGH005 already?

This watch captures the feel of the white birch tree  forests in
Shizukuishi. Thanks to the nice silver-white textured dial which
looks like the Shirakaba’s bark. The decorated dial even has
applied markers, along with beveled hands. Not to mention a
sleek 40mm Zarathustra brushed, and polished stainless steel
case, 100m WR, box sapphire crystal, and stainless steel bracelet.
Plus the Calibre 9SA5 is there to make sure things run smoothly.

Have to agree Jacob ! :) :salute: 8

It’s another masterpiece right?! ..I mean regular Seiko watches have the most
amazing dials, and cases, and already have some extra reliable movements.
Then these Grand Seiko’s take things to new levels ! :excited: It’s pretty phenomenal.
And am so glad you enjoyed !

Thanks very very much for sharing your thoughts sir !!!

It's a little monochromatic in pictures, but I'm sure it's not as bad in person. The back is amazing.

I'm glad GS stepped up their movement design game. I still prefer the Mt. Iwate dial to anything new they've created, but the updated movements are handsome.

Matt, you weren’t a fan of the previous Hi Beat?

What a beautiful design!

I’d have do a lot of collection consolidation to afford it, but I’d wear the heck out of that watch.

On the contrary - the original hi-beat GMT is still my favorite Grand Seiko to date - the SBGJ001. I think it has a better dial, and I think the 44GS case is the best one Seiko makes.

I just wouldn’t mind if it had this movement instead.

Yep, this one has a nicer case and more appealing dial IMO.

Have to agree Jacob, you are on to something with the monochrome thing.
The way the dial has this kind of foggy matte finish is what does it too. It's
mirroring the finish of the watch itself, so everything almost melts into one
look you are right. :salute: They would be something to see in person that is for
sure.

But if it's anything like Matt's, then holy cow, that's pretty awesome !!! :headbang: :)

Love just hearing what you guys have to say honestly. Thanks so so much
just for looking, but also for your thoughts all the time !!!
