That darn Prospex logo

Post by Chocodove » Sun Apr 02, 2023 9:57 am

I may be late to the party, but other day I learned it’s not an “X” at all…it’s a “P” and an “S” for Prospex. Now it’s painfully obvious to me.

In reality, I don’t mind it like most people and actually kinda like it. I get the vitriol, however. I’d still prefer it to say “marine master” on the SLA references.

That is all.

I didn’t know that. Thanks for the fun fact. I don’t hate it but I also prefer the marine master.

You learn something new every day; at least I do.

Now that I think about it; I probably knew that already.

And then forgot I knew that; happens more often each year.

Dude it’s funny you bring this up just as I was thinking it…again.

I bought and flipped one of those new Speedtimers recently because the logo bothered me enough. It’s odd, certain models bother me but not all.

I did learn that tidbit about the logo when it first came out. For the most part it never really bothered me. I view it is sort of a bigger version of the Suwa label, which people generally like. But I admit there are some watches I prefer not to have it on, like I do prefer Marinemaster over the Prospex logo on a MM300 or Tuna. Like Ralph, it's case by case for me.

I knew that's what it is, but I still don't particularly like the way it works. It reminds me too much of some decal on the bed of an offroad truck. Reminds me a bit of the Nissan PRO4X badge for some reason.

Had no clue… wow I just thought it was an X.

Agree with above, I don’t mind it on some models but it looks really bad on a lot of models, and I hate it on higher end Seiko.

Cannot beat the MARINEMASTER text

I don’t mind it on the 200m 6R/4R but not on the SLA 8L35 models. I prefer “Professional 300m, 600m or 1000m” like on the SBBN011 Darth Tuna & SBDB001 600m SD.
What I don’t like are these You Tubers pronouncing it wrong! Most of them say Pros-Pex. The PS stands for professional specifications.

I can barely see my dong, the P&S isn't there as far as I am concerned.

I am proud to say that i never own any "X/SP" dial model so far. I like to keep it that way.

Not fond of the PX logo nor the gold second hand. Actually, I prefer the painted steel bezel on the MM300 as well. Every watch now has a ceramic bezel...how many have a hand painted stainless steel bezel?

SBDX017 for me.

I recently picked up the WIllard in black.
Lovely watch. But that X/PX logo does my head in.
Same as on the bargain turtle I picked up.
Oddly, I think it works well on the MAS 62.

I like the Prospex logo. More accurately I don’t even think about it.

The stupid ‘5’ logo completely ruins all those watches for me, though.
