In a fan of the concept, but not the execution.

Seems that they have plenty of MM300 cases, so a legit reissue would be simple.

$5600 USD, even with 30% off would be $3920 and that’s just too much for what it is.

I’ll stick with the MM300 I just got, which is available new for almost half the cost.

They should have made the bezel a bit taller, it’s clearly too small and thin at 46mm x 16mm

The seiko design team has been hitting the izakayas pretty hard lately

This watch is squarely in Grand Seiko territory both $$ and design. Weird and cool there’s some blending of the brands but that’s a lot of doughnuts for a new Seiko.

I vastly prefer Hoppy's (or the equivalent black version). It does not require giant fat wrists and 16mm thickness of this one is not viable. I don't hate the looks, but he size/price not so much.

What's up with those lug adapter/training wheels/ eyesore. Not a fan.

According to Monochrome, "there are black-coated elements between each lug, which are secured by the back with screws, and that hold the whole watch and bezel together to ensure its resistance to pressure." My MM300s haven't fallen apart, so I'm not sure it's necessary, more of a gimmick. Overall I think it's a cool watch, but way too big and expensive for me.

Case, bezel and dial look awesome. Hands could be a bit better in my opinion. Price definitely too high.

Looks better in real photos, but still…those goofy lug things…No.

Bezel to dial ratio is not sitting well with me.

If they would shrink the whole package I’d like it a lot more

It looks badass. Back to the monobloc for Seiko a proper Marinemaster, MM600.
Titanium, monobloc, 'Professional', a new calibre (8L45), and the date's at three o'clock - a lot to like, though at quite a price!
Seiko does have some history of weird end links/bezel attachments on high end divers (e.g. SBDB001, SBEX001).

I have a feeling the “goofy lug things” actually hold the bezel to the case. Just like the SBDB001/011, Emperor & Darth Tuna’s. This would actually make it pretty easy to remove the bezel for cleaning/service.

If my understanding is correct it is not new on the lug design. Seiko Marinemaster SBEX001 has the same design.

I can tolerate the bumper cars on the bezel/lugs because that is legit Seiko Marinemaster history… but I agree with rockmastermike the bezel is too big for the dial (ala Muhle Rasmus) and I can’t unsee it. It’s like the designers at Seiko said “I need more cowbell…I mean bezel!”

I might be biased (wearing my SBDX001 as I type this), but that "mediocre ratcheting clasp system" is one of the elements I like about Seiko's engineering.

It provides a ton of extension (more than an inch I think) so truly suitable for wet suit use, and it is stone simple, with few moving parts. It can also be adjusted on the fly without removing the watch from your wrist.

On the opposite end of the complexity spectrum is theTudor Pelagos clasp, which I think is really interesting. Given the Tudor clasp's complexity, if I were to bet on which clasp would survive years of use in and around the ocean, my $ is on the Seiko.

Those black lug *things* are a dealbreaker. As is the price probably.
