White Dial Ares Diver-1
Looks like Matt now has a white dial/PVD option.
I couldn't find any pics on the site, but they're shown in this video clip; wish he shot a close up of dials.

The comments on that video don't exactly inspire confidence in the brand.

After reading some comments, I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed that he needed to blow his nose.
White Dial Ares Diver-1
He addressed the issues I had with my early examples, but I listened to his podcast with Jack Carr and couldn’t help but get the feeling that he doesn’t see it from the buyer perspective. I recall something about minor issues and that the watch was “hand built for you” or some such thing. Maybe it’s me, but the feeling was “if you don’t like something deal with it”. I like Matt, but spending this much for a quartz watch, I do expect top shelf stuff.logan2z wrote:The comments on that video don't exactly inspire confidence in the brand.
Monta is a great example of delivering the goods. Every one I’ve owned felt worth more than its msrp.

Ares and Matt are good in my book.
I have autos and gmts and nothing but good experiences. I even asked him to change from pvd bezel to a stainless and he did for me at no cost (other than me shipping to him) and even sent it back with an Ares leather strap. He is good peeps.

Re: White Dial Ares Diver-1
there are so many complaints on the FB Ares page it is brutal. and from what they are all saying the IG post are moderated and comments are turned off so people can't get their watches repaired.
not mention his customer service telling people to "deal with what they receive" is a little wild.
this guy says matt sent him the wrong watch and they would not refund him. he had to do a chargeback to get back his money.
not many people are bold enough to charge 800 for a 715li quartz movement.

Ignoring the other comments, this might be a sign of how difficult it is to run a small business and make a decent profit in the US.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 3:08 pm

Is he actually building them in the US, or are the cases still coming from China?HapaHapa wrote:Ignoring the other comments, this might be a sign of how difficult it is to run a small business and make a decent profit in the US.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 3:08 pm

I have two gmts.
I have two autos.
None of them have any of the issues discussed.
And he seems to be referring to others issues not only his.

My gmt is great minus 3 or 4 specks of dust under the crystal.
Re: White Dial Ares Diver-1
Initial cases were cut overseas, case backs cut in USA. I’ve read Matt’s posts where he said cases are being cut in Washington.tattoo chef wrote:Is he actually building them in the US, or are the cases still coming from China?HapaHapa wrote:Ignoring the other comments, this might be a sign of how difficult it is to run a small business and make a decent profit in the US.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 3:08 pm

Re: White Dial Ares Diver-1
That was common on all of mine. Matt resolved but dust still there. I bought a 1-C from someone here… Matt I think, and it was spot on perfect.nweash wrote:My gmt is great minus 3 or 4 specks of dust under the crystal.
I’m glad the watch is “made for me” but dust is a pet peeve of mine. Some may remember my Dusty Dievas.
Re: White Dial Ares Diver-1
I have nothing against Matt. We have had many deals over the years, mostly firearms and such.
But my experience with a new Ares was different. I received a completely broken watch, was told another was being sent out the next day, weeks later I finally got ahold of him and he was “about” to send me a replacement.. but it was the wrong date configuration.
I ended up with a refund, so I’m not too sour. But I was really surprised about all of it and I wish I had the same good experience as some of you here.
I’ve said this before, but I’d much rather buy a good used one than gambling on a new one.

To be clear, I’m not grinding on Matt. I just hope he takes the feedback from those posts and flips it around. Kobold started being loved by many, then turned into a shit show. I don’t want to see this happen to Matt.
Re: White Dial Ares Diver-1
^^ All that. And I’ll bet I wear my OG D-1 more than anything else. Wears great, decent timekeeping, hits almost all the markers. Haven’t needed to send it in, and will have the battery changed locally when the time comes.

Meh, internet should be taken with a grain of salt.
Two I’ve had were fine without issues.
Been thinking of adding one as a grab and go.

I disagree. I’ve seen this many times with many brands. Sure, you got good ones. But that doesn’t mean others didn’t have issues or that issues have arose since you had yours etc.demer03 wrote:Meh, internet should be taken with a grain of salt.
