Just picked this up. Not the most exciting, but I love my Crosstrek (now primarily the wife’s) and we needed something a little bigger.

Re: What do you drive???
Outbacks (and Subarus in general) are awesome. I've had an Outback and a Forester, and actually considered a Crosstrek since I saw yours, but opted for a pickup because it's just easier to chuck my stuff (kayaks, bikes) in the back than load it up on the roof.

I’ve had a couple Outbacks and loved them. Congrats on being a lesbian like me!Chocodove wrote:Just picked this up. Not the most exciting, but I love my Crosstrek (now primarily the wife’s) and we needed something a little bigger.

Doesn’t WA just issue them to anyone living in the state?hoppyjr wrote:I’ve had a couple Outbacks and loved them. Congrats on being a lesbian like me!Chocodove wrote:Just picked this up. I thought about a truck as well for the same reasons. Congrats on yours as well!jswing wrote:Outbacks (and Subarus in general) are awesome. Congrats on the Subie! Also went with a pock up myself, but love the Crosstrek. If it evers comes with a turbo motor (and keeping the manual tranny), I'm in for one.
Regarding your Outback, go nuts:

Mine were for tastefully upgraded, with skid plates from primitive racing, all-terrain tires, and lighting upgrades.Joeprez wrote:Congrats on the Subie! Also went with a pock up myself, but love the Crosstrek. If it evers comes with a turbo motor (and keeping the manual tranny), I'm in for one.

Todd, another thing you should consider right off the bat is to swap the rear sway bar from one from a WRX. It’s a direct swap bolt on and it only cost about 100 bucks, but it flattens the handling it illuminates a lot of the wagon like handling. On the Subaru outback for him there are threads that talk about which part number you need. Best hundred bucks I ever spent.

Was was the dude’s part number?hoppyjr wrote: On the Subaru outback for him there are threads that talk about which part number you need. Best hundred bucks I ever spent.
Thank for the tip. I’ll check that out.

Seriously, instead of winter tires consider a set of Yokohama G015 Geolanders. They are still quiet and handle well, but are winter rated and carry the Peak-Mountain-Snowflake symbol (severe winter). They also make the Outback look as it’s supposed to look.
If yours has LED headlights standard, good. If not, drift over to VLEDS and pick up a set of their led replacement bulbs for high & low. You’ll be impressed and they are on sale right now.
Then rear swap bar swap.
The Primitive Racing skid plates protect all the costly bits underneath, which is valuable on road as much as off.

I should clarify: for projector lamps like low beams, go with the standard Micro Evolution. For the high beam reflector housing use either the Micro Evolution or Micro Extreme. Don’t use the Extreme in the projector low beam housing.
Plug and play upgrade with no issues.
I’ve run the Yokos year round with no issues. Great all weather capability and long wear. If your car is new you can surely sell the stock rubber to offset cost.
Worth it. All of it.

Re: What do you drive???
Ben, no, just a Silverado LT
Chris, yep. Off Corporate lease with 20K
Sepp, just a 6’ bed extended cab....very common where I live. Winters drive 4wd. I am a construction subcontractor, meaning I supply furniture and equipment to laboratories. I have been known to haul material to job sites, sample cabinets to architects, etc. Plus, we have a camper we pull. Once you have a pick up truck I can’t see going back. I fill that bed with all kinds of stuff. Wonderful to go get a load of mulch for the yard and not even worry about it.
