Thanks for the txt link. I followed the saga, but looking back I'm surprised how much traction the story got. What did the world miss when they were counting hours of oxygen supply?
We didn’t miss anything- the networks made bank.
Sounds like the sub came apart at 9k feet. I told my wife that we had ears on the hole thing and guessed we knew the answer about what happened before the robots found the pieces.
It is better to know how to learn than to know.

No real mystery here.... the news is just playing to what people want to hear. Society is much more fascinated by super rich explorers dying on a Titanic expedition than they are about 300 Pakistani refugees disappearing off the coast of Greece at the same time. No grand conspiracy.... just capitalism at play in the media.

The government lizards got new skin, the aliens rose up from the ocean, and a Chinese warship fell off the edge of the earth. Just another day.

he WAS a fuck face. Too bad he took innocent others with him to his stupid end. The "I dont need to be an engineer to build an extreme environment vehicle" is just the top of the heap of jackassidry.
Similar to Elizabeth Holmes and her lies, except she didn't get the chance to harm anyone with her product.

The company is now offering a 2 for 1 excursion for the same price. You get to see the wreck of the Titantic, AND the final resting place of the submersible in, wait for it ……. A submersible.

If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

If he wasn’t on the sub he would have been a conman.
I think all this evidence shows he was very full of himself and slightly dumb.

“Slightly dumb” is the understatement of the year. He was the worst combination of arrogance and stupidity.

I’m pretty sure Evel took fewer risks than this guy. He tried to guarantee his success and safety by controlling everything he could and manage the risk the best he could.

Too soon to talk about movie roles?
Stockton Rush - Tom Cruise with greyed out hair (no brainer IMO)
Hamish British guy - Jason Statham
Father - Sayid from Lost
Son - Kid from Extraction
French guy - Gary Oldman with a beard and French accent
Rush’s wife - Kate Winslet (let’s bring things full circle)

It sustained heavy damage after being flung across the sub in frustration from failing to level up.
