New thread Shorty…. I found the old one but figured a new one is in order.

Soma Wolverine. Gravel rig.

Surly stable includes the Bridge Club…..and my wife rides the Ogre. We do rail trails and we have the Towpath here in Ohio runs from CLE south.
Ohio has a 95% complete route that runs Cleveland to Cincy. 320 miles.
No e-bikes…

Speaking of Surlys, I’m more of a winter fat bike guy, myself. Here’s my ice cream truck in it’s natural habitat:

Gravel = Surly Midnight Special and the wife's Canyon Grail
Road = BMC Teammachine for me and Canyon Aeroad for her.
Gonna either start modding the Surly, or gonna get rid of both and build a Moots over the winter. Haven't decided yet.

nice stuff....... I worked with my friend Kevin at 226Sources ----- he's also a watch nerd (Starstella on WUS)..... hit him up if you want ideas --- he does a lot of custom work and focuses on Titanium frames.... also has his own carbon hoops..

Ran into someone recently who told us he was proud to no longer own a car.... until he realized he had spent Beemer level money on his bikes. Anyone else feeling that pain?
We ran into this guy on the beach path in the little town of Cambria, CA. He was a mentor for our kid's robotics team around 15 years ago. He recognized the team number and name on our shirts.

In a former life, I worked at a major outdoor retailer that sold bikes among many other things. Two of the major brands were Surly and Felt. I always left the job of selling bikes to other people much more knowledgeable about them than myself. One of the people that worked there legit rode her bike across the country and it was a Surly. Her name was Dolly.
This is my contribution to this thread.

In my second career, I now work at a shop wrenching/selling bikes. Although we carry a lot of high-end carbon bikes, all of us own and ride at least one Surly. We may juice them up a little. I just built my third; an Ogre outfitted to ride across the country next summer.

I didn’t realize so many of us on DWC owned Surlies (Surlys?)

I’ve added the SRAM Red wireless shifting and Zipp wheels over the years. The frame is Ti and the forks titanium infused carbon.
A couple years ago I removed the clips and put on Power Grips.

We couldn’t have asked for a nicer trail for our first time out in a while and we’re both 60+ now, so smoother trails are better too.

We’re focusing more on smelling the fresh air and seeing beautiful scenery. I’m still pretty cautious on the bike after the crash where I broke 7 ribs and partially collapsed a lung 🫁. Laurie’s slowed down too after my 3 days in ICU and months of healing. Not saying I won’t push it as I get more miles under the belt again, but I’m taking it easy for now.
