Hello from Canada

Post by Hornet01 » Mon Dec 31, 2012 10:46 am

Hi Guys,

I'm a new member since yesterday after being introduced to DWC by James (JAD3703). Although I've since made a few comments scattered throughout the site I thought it would be appropriate if I introduced myself "formally" on the Main Forum. I've just retired as a pilot from the Royal Canadian Air Force after 33 years of service and now have more time to devote to watches (and other awesome things...). My current collection includes (in alpbetical order): Audemars Piguet, Blancpain, Hublot, JLC, Omega, Panerai, Rolex, Tudor, Vacheron Constantin, and IWC. I hope to expand a bit more in the future.

I've seen the introductory video () and now know what to expect - and what not to expect. Refreshing. Looking forward to getting to know the DWC members and to the honest discussions of watches and all of those other things that make life worth living.

Best regards and Happy New Year.

Gordo

I know, but Kenny Loggins didn't write a song about F-18s or the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Here's another - best I can do:

Welcome to the asylum, Gordo. It's quite the place; you'll have lots of fun and theres loads of irreverence, but also people here treat each other with respect and courtesy, no matter how sensitive the subject.

Haha. Thanks for the welcome everyone, and JBZ thanks for the videos. As far as I'm concerned, there is never, ever a reason to apologize for Top Gun. I was single and going through fighter pilot training when Top Gun came out, and despite the movie's tinge of inappropriate bromance and the use of the F-14 swing-wing tennis court, I was able surf the crest of the resultant wave of fighter euphoria and get lucky with "da ladies".... What's not to like? I remain indebted to Tom Cruise.

The Blue Angels vid almost makes me want to sign up again but it truly is a young man's game - so I'll stick to cars, motorcycles and watches.

Attached find some of my collection. Regret the photo quality (first two shots taken in the summer):

Some of my JLCs (Grand Reveil rose gold; Master Compressor Chrono 1 & 2; 8 Day, Amvox 2 DBS; Squadra GMT and Grand Ultra Thin:

AP Royal Oak Offshore Safari; VC Royal Eagle; Hublot Big Bang Black Magic:

My latest acquisition: Blancpain 50 Fathoms Chrono in Rose Gold:

Great to be aboard. All the best.

Looking at that collection requires one to have a towel.....either for wiping up the drool, or cleaning up after self-love. True watch porn. Thank you.
