FWIW here's a square watch that I could see myself wearing.

Having owned one I agree that a more fluid and curved transition would be better with 22mm lugs. 24mm is too wide for a 42mm case IMhO.lilhoody wrote:Todd,
The project sounds cool and the case dimensions seem fine...I think. I don't pay too much attention to these specs, so my frame of reference isn't there. If you want to refine the next watch, I say start with the lugs. I borrowed a CD2 to try once and immediately sent it back. I found the lugs detracted from the watch. 24mm width seemed unnecessary and made them look like an after thought, rather than a seamless extension of the case.
I always thought, if you had tapered them better...say down an in and made them 22mm, the presentation would have been beautiful. It is very hard to describe, but, an "S" curve from case to lug, rather than a straight, blocky angle would have probably sealed the deal on a CD@ for me.
I would have never publicly mentioned this, had you not asked. Take it for what it's worth; just my opinion.
BTW: I love GMT watches.
I would also a Ti case

I like square watches, but fair points made on that, I will shelve that one for later.
Personally, I always thought 22mm lugs, are a little small, and it was one of my complaints on the Panerai Marina, that it looked a little thin, and that watch is a 40mm. But with a big dial area, they wear big.
If I use Fricker for a Ti watch, they are going to ramp up the price. Ti is cheap, not overly hard to machine if your used to working with it, but still carries that ''exotic'' label, and companies think they can add a zero for it. I like Ti, and would use it if I could, but a bigger complaint of the CD-2 than the lug width, was the price.
A GMT watch would be the easiest route, but a comment the other day that all Aegir watches look the same (even though there is only 2!) , got me thinking it was time for the SD-1 or some such model. The dial on that was always planned to look different.

I would be accused of the dreaded ''Homage'' Mark, if I got it wrong.andrema wrote:Vintage styled internal bezel diver...or maybe something like an updated Scubapro 500 style with raised bezel?
I could take that design and change it drastically of course, take it from a 70's case to magic mushroom inspired 2015 model.
My funds are limited though, so thinking outside the box needs to be getting it right at the same time. My wife has said no more emptying of our accounts, which is a shame, because I love spending money

I was thinking that, too, after i mentioned a GMT. If it could be done with a central minute totalizer (kind of like the old TAG Aquagraph) that would rock.

How about a diver with alarm. A very rare breed. Or heaven forbid a way to incorporate some electronic functions.

Twin crown divers are sweet. Not too many to choose from.

I like a Chrono Diver idea too, but 44mm with 22mm lugs.

I would stick with this formula. 42mm case with 50.5mm L2L. Perfect execution.t20569cald wrote:The CD-1 and 2 are currently that 50.5JP Chestnut wrote:51mm L2L on a 42mm watch seems a little long. Are you stretching the lugs to fit super fat straps or something? If not, 49mm would be more wearable.

I would also add that the 24mm lugs do not detract from the nice aesthetics of the case. If you were to change that, I would say 20mm or 22mm lugs should also be fine, but just keep the case size between 40-42mm.
GMT chrono would also be nice.

I was thinking maybe a divers bezel and an internal 2nd bezel for a 2nd time zone, like this Sicura Breitling diver:CesarG wrote:andrema wrote:Vintage styled internal bezel diver...

I wouldn't necessarily do white or the same diver's bezel...but that kind of vibe.
Re: Next model type?
The new tapatalk app makes this thread way more interesting looking, I thought I was getting GO content, buts every time I tap it's still Aegir.

Re: Next model type?
I do love the watches with a rotating internal bezel with cities marked that turn automatically. That way I know the time everywhere in the world all the time. Shame I don't have one
Re: Next model type?
I would love to see the CD1 case with an internal bezel like an IWC/AP Diver, and maybe 22 mm lugs. I think that would be awesome.

I think your clean aesthetic Todd would work very well in an internal bezel diver, which is also a dressier style. That's the one I'd love to see.

I will never make anything vintage styled, but internal bezel would be nice. I worry it would take dial space up though, so the CD1 would need a rethink on its bezel size and dial if I went that route.

The SD1 sounds good to me. IMO what you've already done works very well, so basically adding a ceramic insert and a different dial sounds like something I'd want.

It is on hold for now, until I see what it what with the $AUD and how to make it work. One issue is the bezel inserts alone, cost 30 Euro a piece, and min order is 300 pcs.
So for now I am thinking over how best to proceed.
Re: Next model type?
Whatever you decide I think it is key to have an easy strap change system and make sure most any strap will fit on the watch.

I am new here. and have just managed to get a CD2. For what its worth, I think its stunning. Sometimes less is more. But I also recognise the need to evolve.

Welcome, Stu. Excellent choice in watches.
